"I'm 15 years for a moment..."

... and it really was a moment. My, what can change in a year. Miserable and lonely, to happily integrated. One Year.

My eighth grade birthday was one of my favorites. Being the abstract teenager I am... I was fourteen and decided I wanted to go to Katsuya in Hollywood with one friend for sushi. Yeah, I know. This year was the big 1-6, but, I wasn't looking to have a drunken rager. Again, the abstract teenager bit I was talking about. Instead of said rager, I decided to take my boyfriend and three friends (along with my parents, grandma, and brothers) out to dinner at a beautifully classic french restaurant just over the bridge in Ballard, called Bastille.

I'd like to think I channeled my inner Holly Golightly in my simple black dress and pearls (a family heirloom gifted by my lovely grandmother), hopefully better than Heidi Montag in her belly shirt and tutu.

La Heidi Montag

Moi et mon Copain

I am also very proud to announce that I officially passed my drivers test and am now a licensed driver!

Bastille is an amazing little french place so if you're a foodie or a francophile and you're ever in Ballard, I highly recommend it! The muscles were delicious- but so is everything else :)

Thanks to Justin, Madison, Claire, Will, and my family for making my sixteenth birthday special!

Not Impressed

(Cue trademark Mikaela Maroney face) I love Ray Bans. I truly do. But after my experience with their costumer service, I'm seriously under-impressed.

I bought my Ray-Ban aviators about two years ago and I absolutely adored them! I wore them constantly and was EXTREMELY careful with them. If they weren't covering my eyes or on top of my head, they were in the case and I was always wiping the lenses with the glass cleaning towel.

Last summer I was walking down the street and took my glasses off to wipe off a smudge and slightly adjust the nose guard.  When it broke off in my hands I freaked out! I immediately sent the pieces to Luxxotica (Ray-Ban's parent company/manufacturer) explaining the story and asking if they could repair them. I got a note back weeks later saying that if I wanted them fixed it would cost $74. Mind you these aviators cost $98. Finding this outrageous, I sent an email back explaining that this seemed unreasonable considering it was a tiny piece and a simple fix. I had saved up long and hard for these glasses because I just couldn't live with out them. (As I've explained before, I'm a brand freak and as an 8th grader I used the little money I had to buy these.)

It came as a huge surprise to me that such a huge, well known brand such as Ray-Ban, wouldn't stand by their product. If they want a returning, satisfied customer they shouldn't charge such an outrageous fee to repair a manufacturing issue. I only had these glasses for about a year and they broke. I am greatly aware that the quality of these are high and that's what I'm paying for, so when they broke I expected a quick replacement. But that's not what I got.

So, as much as I love their product, I'm not impressed with their sucky costumer service.

Villa Rosa

The Real Housewives is my guilty pleasure. Please tell me you at least watch Beverly Hills. I mean, Kyle and Kim?? Scandy Brandi? Utterly fabulous Yolanda? Crazy Taylor? Always elegant Lisa? And who could forget Jiggy! My parents absolutely HATE that I watch it so whenever they're out of the house I try and squeeze in a few episodes. Sadly, no I'm not here to discuss the drama of Adrienne and Paul's failing marriage from the last episode, I'm here to discuss Lisa's AMAZING new house Villa Rosa (she named her house. what.).

Villa Rosa's gorgeous, elegant entryway

Crisp black and white pool room with amazing dark hardwood floors

Black and stainless steal mod kitchen (w/ too coffee pots? why not!)

Blush and mirrored bedroom with french doors, leading out to a beautiful balcony

Extravagant, yet tranquil, blush, white, and mirrored bathroom

Can we all just take a moment of silence for this closet...

And another moment for this pool... double balconies... covered seating... and floor to ceiling windows...

Soothing outdoor covered seating, looking out onto this breathtaking view of the Hollywood Hills

I think we can all agree that we'd love to live like a Beverly Hills Housewife. Or at least in their homes.

Pinspiration Vol 2

Today was a jean day. Skinny jeans and a chambray shirt. As simple as can be but classy at the same time. It's a perfect combination of relaxed and chic. In the second edition of my new series: chambray.

Sidenote: These flats are my favorite pair of shoes besides my brown leather boots. They are the most comfortable pair of shoes and so versatile. Steve Madden, I love you.

Namaste...

With all the stress that comes along with high school, getting ready for junior year, and starting to think about college, I need a remedy for my stress. Enter yoga. Hot yoga to be more precise. It's my new activity that I plan to commit to at least twice a week in order to relieve myself of some stress. Two times a week where I can take a study break and just have an hour of peace and warmth to myself. I figure that not only will the heat be relaxing but it makes my break productive, adding an element of exercise to it, releasing all of those lovely endorphins that our brains crave.

I bought myself a pretty blue yoga mat, take a huge water bottle, throw on some comfy exercise wear and head out for my little break from this crazy world.

For sixty minutes I get to remove myself and not worry about what others think, homework I need to get done, or agenda I need to write up. Just me and my fellow yogis:

My favorite YouTube video just btw haha.

Pinspiration Vol 1

Yay for new segments! I call it Pinspiration. A bit cheesy, I know, but it's the best way I could describe my love for Pinterest and how I work to transform my fantasy virtual wardrobe into my reality not so fancy wardrobe. These posts will consist of my version of my favorite Pins on my "My Style" board.

This week was I nice feisty combination of leopard and fire engine red....

I picked up this little gem on Pinterest and.....

Voila! An assumed much cheaper, version of one of my favorite pins :)

Part one of many to come!!

The Oscars

Movies are my first love. They're a comfort, a joy, something to share with others. A big part of my life and my family's life so of course I watch all the award shows. And for you all who know movies, you know that the Oscars is the best of the best. And besides the show, which I love, the red carpet brings my love of movies and fashion together into one huge magical, multi-million dollar affair. Here were my favorite looks from this year.

Jennifer Lawrence in a beautiful sculptural Dior

Jessica Chastain in shimmery Armani Prive

Charlize Theron in clean and crisp Dior

Jennifer Aniston in perfect blood red Valentino

Kerry Washington in a gorgeous coral, embellished Miu Miu

Samantha Barks in a beautifully simplistic Valentino

Just a few of my faves! Can't wait for next year!
