My dreams of having my own house to design grow stronger and stronger every day and with all the free time I've had over my Christmas break, I've been browsing Pinterest, watching my Nancy Meyers favorites, and catching up on all my recorded Million Dollar Decorators. Today's focus? Kitchens.
A kitchen is so important. In my family, it's where everyone congregates when we get together. It's the center of the house always, and its so easy to do wrong, but even easier to make right. Clean and tidy and ever so simple is best (IKEA forever).
I love the clean, white look. Stainless steel appliances are almost always a must, with very few exceptions. The open shelving is gorgeous but only an option for those who are OCD about organization. Open shelves can never be a mess.
Something totally unexpected but totally fabulous and functional: the pink countertop. I would personally pull out the art on the wall and replace it with something simpler or the open shelving and the Campbells tins with a vintage crystal chandelier. I love mixing modern and industrial with a feminine touch. Opposites attract is the name of the game.
Now this is the dream. A beautiful, neutral, indoor/outdoor kitchen. The epitome of the California lifestyle, coffee on the patio.
The cabinets are a bit too traditional for me but I can't get over this backsplash. I love glass tiles and the seafoam green just makes it a ten.
And if you're going for dramatic, this is where you go. High shine black laquer. Nothing is more gorgeous or fabulous than black laquer.
And to accompany any fabulous kitchen, you need some fabulous extras...
every kitchen needs a burnt orange Veuve Clicquot Tray
and some Moroccan tea glasses.
Kitchen love for the new year. Hope 2013 is off to a great start!
xoxo
